Abstract: Many developing countries are already facing or will soon face health crises arising from the increasing incidence of communicable diseases.  HIV, tuberculosis, malaria, and Ebola are the most notorious, but several less well-known diseases, in combination, cause equal amounts of suffering.  This lecture will explore various ways in which governments, NGOs, and private firms, by adjusting their laws, policies and practices, might improve the development and distribution of vaccines and other pharmaceutical products that could help prevent or alleviate these crises.
